About the event & organizer

RTP has been organising the “Rural Technology and Crafts Mela” since 2003 as a part of the NIRD&PR Foundation Day Celebrations. The mela has proven to a vibrant platform showcasing rural innovations & technologies, crafts, handlooms & handicrafts, diversified art & culture of rural India.

The mela is conducted to showcase all rural technologies which are developed by different organizations/individuals that are useful to the people at one place, and to create awareness and linkages between both the consumers and entrepreneurs/ innovators/ technologists.

During the previous years, thousands of rural innovators, artisans and self-help group members, entrepreneurs across the country displayed an amazing array of products. These include handicrafts, handlooms and ready-made garments, khadi and village industries products, medicinal and aromatic products, leather goods, toys, decorative items, processed traditional food items, coir products, wood carvings, brassware, fashion and tribal jewellery and solar energy based applications / products etc.

A.Rural Innovators, SHG Entrepreneurs, Technology Institutions and Private Institutions/ Startups will be participating in the “16th Rural Technology and Crafts Mela 2018” and displaying various technologies, processes, products, tools and implements for demonstration and sale.

Q.What is the purpose of the exhibited?

A.The mela is conducted to showcase all rural technologies which are developed by different organizations/individuals that are useful to the people at one place, and to create awareness and linkages between both the consumers and entrepreneurs/ innovators/ technologists.

1.SKILL & SELF EMPLOYMENT TECHNOLOGIES: Farm production technologies, agro-processing, packaging, organic farming practices, product manufacturing technologies, cold chain technologies, preservation & storage, artisan based technologies, rural crafts etc.

2.ENVIRONMENTAL & GREEN TECHNOLOGIES: Technologies related to hydroponics, waste management, water management, urban farming, solar-wind-bio energy, energy efficient cooking devices etc

3. INFRASTRUCTURE TECHNOLOGIES: Rural roads construction, innovative / appropriate rural housing, water treatment, sanitation, drinking water, solid & liquid management, water harvesting,, water shed etc.

The participants shall make a demand draft for the amount shown below in favour of NIRD&PR, Hyderabad only after receiving the confirmation with regard to the acceptance of their nomination and bring it along with them. Under any circumstances making cash payment shall not be accepted.

  • 2. NGOs/ Small Scale Entrepreneur: Rs. 5,000/-
  • 3. Rural Entrepreneur/ Educational / Technology Institution: Rs. 3,000/-

  • 4. RTP Trained Successful Entrepreneurs’ / Rural Innovator: NIL (Free)

Event Venue & Social Connect

The mela will be organised at RTP, NIRD&PR, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad – 30. It is located around 20 - 25 KM from Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Kachiguda railway stations. Register early before its too late.
